FAA Warnings for Galaxy Note 7 Airline Passengers - No Charging, No Using of Smartphone During Flight

Warnings for the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 on FAA Pack Safe website and on Twitter page to reach more passengers

US travelers who use Galaxy Note 7 smartphones received a stern warning from the Federal Aviation Administration regarding its use while flying. The immensely popular handset was recalled by its manufacturer after some units have caught fire and even exploded.

Samsung said that they have traced the problem to a flaw in how the lithium battery was designed. The tech company has offered to replace 1 million Galaxy Note 7 devices that are already in use in 10 countries. They have also recalled shipments of the phones.

The FAA sent out warnings for passengers that are still waiting for their replacement Galaxy Note 7 devices. The administration orders these passengers not to power on or charge their Galaxy Note 7 units while they are on board planes. These phones should never be stowed or kept inside unchecked baggage too.

The new FAA rules were rather extraordinary considering that they have never warned aircraft passengers about a specific device or product. FAA simply recommends passengers to turn off any electronic gadgets including cell phones as the plane takes off. The FAA also allows mobile phones to be used inside planes as long as these are set in airplane mode.

The FAA also sent out this warning through its official Twitter page The FAA on Twitter so that it could be disseminated faster through social media. It has also posted this warning on top of the Pack Safe page of its website. This page informs passengers what materials or items may or may not be taken on board a flight. There are also reports that some independent airlines may also post a ban on the device.

The FAA Pack Safe page says taking 5 minutes checking passenger luggage for hazardous materials will help get all of them safer to wherever they are headed to.

All Samsung Galaxy Note 7 recalled except from China

Samsung issued a recall for the Galaxy Note 7 in 10 countries except phones from China. Galaxy Note 7 phones sold in China uses a different kind of battery that is not affected by the lithium battery flaw.

Samsung also revealed that they have known at least 35 cases of burning or exploding Samsung Galaxy Note 3 batteries but no injuries were reported due to the events.

Representative from Samsung said that customer safety is their priority even if the recall will cost them so much.
