'Fable Legends' Officially Cancelled, Full Refund Announced

Cooperative action role-playing video game "Fable Legends" has officially said its goodbye. The game, which is supposed to launch this year, has been fully cancelled already. According to a report by Tech Times, the game was cancelled in March but the beta remained open until this month. And now, gamers who tried to log in to the RPG Fantasy franchise only received a single screen message from the game's developer, Lionhead Studios.

"'Fable Legends' is no longer running," reads the game's login page. "All stories have to end eventually, but the memories of Heroic triumphs and Villainous Plots will last forever. Thank you for your support. You are all Legends."

The servers for the game have officially gone offline now marking the end of "Fable Legends" once and for all. Eurogamer noted that the game was initially slated to be released in 2015 with the closed beta having begun as early as 2014. It got delayed to 2016 but due to Microsoft's decision to shut down Lionhead, the game will have to close down as well.

The Country Caller reported that Microsoft no longer permitted any transactions for purchase of the in-game currency Gold following the cancellation announcement last month. But since there were some beta testers and players who purchased Gold with real-world money, the company announced that they will issue a full refund. The official website of the game wrote that the Xbox and Windows Store teams are now processing the refunds for everyone who purchased Gold in the game.

It also mentioned that some have already received and this can be checked through the user's Microsoft account. For those who have not received yet, Microsoft is urging beta testers to wait and check back again. They will then just notify once all of the refunds have been completed.

With regards to the game ever getting a revival, there are rumors that developers on that team could pick up the game as an independent title. However, until there is a confirmation, "Fable Legends" remains dead.
