'Fable Legends' Open Beta Postponed, Release Date Pushed Back to Spring 2016
Those who have been waiting for the free-to-play cooperative action role-playing video game "Fable Legends" will have to extend their patience as the previously promised open beta this holiday season has been postponed.
According to a report by Tech Times, developer Lionhead Studios announced that they will have to delay the release of the open beta to spring 2016. As it turned out, they will need to do more work in order to finish the expansive project.
A blog post from the game's official website explained the reason for the push back. According to the write-up, the team did not expect the game to get so big.
"To be honest, we didn't anticipate just how big Fable Legends is becoming. It's simply the most ambitious game we've ever created at Lionhead," the post said.
It also said that they have created a "unique and innovative multiplayer experience" that mixes RPG and RTS gameplay, which allow gamers to play and utilize their equipment effortlessly in Xbox One and Windows 10. They have also even created a "beautiful new world full of grand stories and adventures." However, what they did not realize is that the plans they have will need more time than they thought.
Digital Trends noted that the game has been in closed beta since Oct. 16. Right now they are operating it 24/7 and have placed in additional features, quests, creatures and heroes to play. They also announced that 100,000 gamers will be added in the closed beta in the coming weeks. Their main focus now is on polishing up the game to make it look and play better so that the beta testers will have a better gaming experience. At the same time, the developers will be able to listen to them in preparation for the game's official release.
Aside from the spring 2016 announcement, there is no specific date yet when the open beta will finally kick off. Fans will just have to stay tuned in for it.
