Facebook Hacking: Porn and Horror Images Leave FB Users Fearful and Confused (VIDEO)
Facebook has been under heavy attack the last couple of days as the social networking site has become the latest victim of a severe hacking spree affecting many users at random; filling users' accounts with images of porn and graphic images.
Many have feared that the hacking group known as “Anonymous” might be behind the disruption of normal Facebook service, based on threats the group or members of the group have made recently concerning disrupting or “killing” FB due to privacy issues.
According to the group, Facebook has been selling information to government agencies “so that they can spy on people from all over the world.”
Website developer Robert M. Pimpsner does not believe the hype. "I don’t take them seriously. This is the same group that said they will take down the NY Stock Exchange, Amazon and several other companies. The result was nothing. Also the date has long since past with no issues," he told The Christian Post.
He continued by talking about the safety measures one can take to protect themselves from such hacks. "It’s called being smart about what you click on. I have had ZERO issues with porn on FB. I keep my security levels at high levels to protect my privacy and only share with those I wish to at a specific time. Most people don't do that they just leave it open."
"Anonymous" released a public statement through their media sites stating the attack wasn't by them, but it is uncertain who represents Anonymous because of the many outlets of media they inhabit.
According to the website Gawker, the plot to “kill” Facebook has been a misunderstanding, a campaign which was spread out of control by splinter members of the group.
Still, as many Facebook users log out and await a solution, the remaining social networkers should proceed with caution and hopefully Facebook can fix itself or offer some kind of help.
