Based on the trailer, it looks like the upcoming movie will heavily focus on Natsu and his past. Avid "Fairy Tail" fans know that Natsu was raised by Igneel, who is not his real father. In the upcoming movie, the Dragon Slayer will set out on a quest to learn more about his past and what happened to his surrogate father.

"Fairy Tail: Dragon Cry" will be the second movie in the "Fairy Tail" franchise. Its original creator, Hiro Mashima, executive-produced and made around 200 storyboards for the upcoming film. Aside from him, other industry professionals behind the much-awaited feature are director Tatsuma Minamikawa, film writer Shoji Yonemura and designer Yuuko Yamada. Yasuharu Takanashi also returned to score the film.

Last year, Weekly Shonen magazine confirmed that "Fairy Tail" would get its second movie. The first film of the franchise, titled "Fairy Tail the Movie: Phoenix Princess," hit theaters in 2012.

"Fairy Tail" tells the story of a guild of powerful wizards who call themselves the Fairy Tail family. Set in a fictional world, the anime features a young boy named Natsu, who teams up with Lucy as the latter wants to become a powerful wizard too.

"Fairy Tail: Dragon Cry" hits Japanese theaters on May 6.
