Faith Hill has decided against reprising the "Sunday Night Football" theme song for the first time in six years this week.

The Grammy Award-winning singer took to Twitter with the news on Monday.

"Amazing 2 have been part of SNF- an honor," Hill started. "I've just let everyone there know its time 2 let someone else rock the open."

She added that it was a "difficult decision."

"Kinda emotional," Hill posted. "Love all u guys at SNF- I'll b watching!!!"

For the past six years, the country music superstar offered her vocals on the show's opening song "Waiting All Day for Sunday Night."

Just before football season last year, Hill released a statement about her role with "SNF."

"I wait all year for Sunday Night," the singer said in a statement last September. "Somehow the season wouldn't feel the same without seeing everyone from NBC/Sunday Night Football over the summer [when we record and film the open]. It makes it feel like the wait for the season is somehow shorter."

Last year, the show's theme song was set to the tune of Joan Jett's "I Hate Myself For Loving You."

"Sunday Night Football" producer Fred Gaudelli noted his gratitude for Hill following her announcement, tweeting "great love and appreciation" for the singer's participation.

Raised in Jackson, Mississippi in a devout Christian environment, Hill got her start singing in local churches. She has received five Grammy Awards as well as nine Academy of Country Music Awards over the course of her career in music so far.

Hill and her husband Tim McGraw celebrated their 16th wedding anniversary this year. The couple share three daughters; Gracie, Maggie, and Audrey.
