'Fallout 4' DLC Release Rumor: Concept Art, Harpoon Gun Hint at First DLC to Be Set Underwater?

The rumor that a "Fallout 4" DLC could take advantage of the vast bodies of water in the game simply hasn't died out. It continues to live on and has recently resurfaced, despite one Redditor having already explored the vast blue depths and discovered nothing "colossal."

The "Fallout 4" underwater DLC rumor has its root in concept images that were part of Bethesda's E3 presentation of the game. The water or underwater theme was spotted by Redditor Madfired six months ago.

"While scanning through the Fallout E3 video, as many of you probably are, I noticed a reoccurring theme. Water, and underwater," Madfired had written in a Reddit "Fallout" thread.

He provided some examples. These are as follows:

  • Person standing at the bottom of a body of water
  • An inside helmet view of a Mirelurk Queen
  • What looks like a person in power armor underwater
  • A possible image of an octopus
  • Although less of an underwater image, one screenshot shows that some places may be further out away from land
  • Chinese submarine concept art

In addition, he also noticed that in the beginning of the gameplay, three out of the seven paintings or pictures in the protagonist's house were that of lighthouses and two other images were water related.

These images have yet to be seen in the game itself, but some have been attaching them as pieces of the DLC.

In addition to these water-related images, one modder, known as deathknight72, has also uncovered a harpoon gun hidden deep within the game's code. YouTuber Tyrannicon has uploaded a video (below) of this harpoon gun that shoots bubbles alongside the ammo. The animation clearly shows that this weapon has been made to be used underwater, according to Crave.

Bethesda had previously stated that a DLC will be made available for the game, but what the add-on content will be has yet to be teased or confirmed by the company. So these things about the harpoon gun and water-related concept images will remain merely speculations for now.
