'Fallout 4' Update Lays Foundation for March DLC
Bethesda rolled out "Fallout 4's" 1.4 beta update on Feb. 22. The latest update brings not only the typical performance improvements and bug fixes but also support for add-ons.
"Fallout 4's" update includes a slew of new features, one of which is support for add-ons. In addition, the patch also adds art customization options for the Workshop and more settlement options like Super Mutant clutter, Raider clutter, abstract and portrait paintings, new signs, and more metal and wood doors.
Bethesda previously announced the game's lineup of DLCs from March to May 2016. The one arriving next month is "Fallout 4's" Automatron DLC and the update apparently will prepare the game for its release.
The Automatron DLC brings robots and mods to the game. Players who will purchase the expansion pack for $9.99 will be tasked to hunt down evil robots, harvest their parts, and build their own robot companions by mixing and matching components, weapons, paints, and even voices.
After Automatron will come Wasteland Workshop. This DLC releases in April 2016 for $4.99. While the first DLC requires players to hunt down robots, this expansion pack shifts the focus of the hunt to live creatures ranging from raiders to Deathclaws. Once captured, players can either tame them or fight them in battle. The DLC also comes with new design options for settlements, including letter kits, taxidermy, and nixie tube lighting.
Finally, in May, Bethesda will launch "Fallout 4's" Far Harbor DLC, which costs $24.99. This upcoming DLC will have gamers play detective and look for a young woman and a secret colony of synths. Far Harbor also features the largest landmass Bethesda has ever created for an add-on.
Again, "Fallout 4's" 1.4 update is currently in beta on Steam. After the beta phase, the update will release to PC, PS4, and Xbox One. Bethesda has promised to announce more information "soon."
