Family Movie Night Continues with 'Truth Be Told'
Colorado’s leading marriage counselor, Annie Morgan, always emphasizes that honesty is the key to a successful marriage. Ironically, she finds it difficult to follow her own advice.
That’s the premise of Wal-Mart and P&G’s fifth Family Movie Night installment, “Truth Be Told.” It stars Candace Cameron Bure from the iconic TV show “Full House” and David James Elliott, best known as Captain Harmon “Harm” Rabb, Jr. on the hit TV series “JAG.”
In the film airing Saturday, Morgan is excited about discussing the perfect job – hosting a radio advice program. But media mogul Terrance Bishop (Ronny Cox, "Stargate SG-1" and "Beverly Hills Cop") thinks the marriage counselor is married and invites her and “her spouse” to his ranch to discuss the possible radio program. Unfortunately for her, she’s never been married.

Desperate to get the job, she asks her old college friend, a recent widower and a father of two teenagers, to pose as her husband for the weekend, a weekend that will change her life and take her on an emotional roller-coaster as she battles with her own conscience.
As she ponders over living up to her own advice, amid of a series of comical misunderstandings, and making her dream come true, she comes to realize that even though truth is not as easy as she thought it would be at the end, one way or another, it’s the best way to open hearts and allow room for better possibilities.
Family Movie Night was launched last year to fill the void in family-friendly and values based T.V. programming. Actress Bure shared that the program is so serious about keeping the movie’s content clean that “they told me after the edit (notice you'll never see the bottom of the dress) they pulled up the film because they thought my legs looked too nice and could be too much for a ‘family movie.’ What a compliment!”
Upon hearing about the movie night project, Bure had always wanted to participate in one because as a mom with three kids “family content is incredibly important to me.” She further noted to The Christian Post, “I also grew up in what's now an iconic family show having been on ‘Full house.’”
She added that being raised in a “family where family values were incredibly important and now as a mom and a wife of 15 years, those are things that are important to me and I know that even though there is a lot of family-friendly content as far as kids are concerned, there's not a lot of entertainment for the whole family anymore so I was so excited about being a part of the family movie night because it's for both kids and adults just to enjoy an evening and spend time together.”
Bure’s Christian faith also plays a big role when it comes to working on films, she shared. “Faith is incredibly important to me; it's who I am. My faith plays a role in every aspect of my life whether it's in the projects that I choose or my choices as home; it's pretty much everything.”
While she has lost roles because she is selective about characters she plays, given that she is “very particular about the values that are in it or some sort of redemptive qualities within the movie characters,” she finds it rewarding.
“It's a wonderful position to be in that I'm able to do that and so when things like this come along like ‘Truth Be Told’ I just jump on board right away because this is right up my alley of the things I like to support and do.”
“Truth be Told” is set to air on Saturday, April 16 at 8/7 CDT on Fox.
