Family Receives Jenni Rivera Remains; Body Parts Undergo DNA Testing
The family of Jenni Rivera has identified her remains and is currently in possession of the body parts belonging to the Mexican-American music star who died in a plane crash Sunday.
According to CNN, Jenni Rivera's remains were returned to her family, who for the past few days were holding onto hope that the singer would be found alive. Citing a spokesman for Mexico's Nuevo Leon state, CNN also reported that the remains of Rivera's publicist and the plane's co-pilot have also been identified.
DNA tests will also be done on Rivera's remains.
Meanwhile, two state police officers have been arrested for stealing items from the singer's plane crash. They are suspected of leaking photos and pics of Jenni Rivera's body parts. A video allegedly showing the singer's body parts were also seen online.
Nuevo Leon state officials found the photos of Jenni Rivera on one of the officer's smartphones. Government authorities are now investigating how the photos and other personal documents belonging to Rivera were leaked to the media and online.
Fans of Jenni Rivera have been mourning her loss but her family has not announced any funeral plans.
Rivera was onboard a plan with six other people when the aircraft dived 28,000 feet in just 30 seconds. The wreckage and remains was spread out near Iturbide, Mexico.
The cause of the crash is also under investigation.
Rivera is Grammy-nominated music star who has sold 20 million album. She was a featured coach on The Voice Mexico.
