Family Research Council Releases State Model Legislation Booklet

The pro-family group recently released the 2005 State Model Legislation booklet to both inform and promote the bills to legislators and the public.

A pro-family group recently released a publication on legislation relating to pro-family issues, to both inform and promote the bills to legislators and the public.

On Tuesday, the Washington, D.C.-based Family Research Council released the 2005 State Model Legislation booklet in both print and online versions. The booklet is the result of research conducted by the State & Local Affairs staff, which consulted with national experts in several fields to identify and research policies related to today’s important pro-family issues.

"FRC offers this booklet as a guide to assist in the passage of pro-family legislation across the country and as a forum with which to share some examples we think are worthy of emulation," said FRC’s Vice President for Government Affairs, Connie Mackey, in a statement regarding the publication.

Within the booklet, the group has highlighted policies for the protection of marriage, the sanctity of life, and protection from pornography. Among the policies are state constitutional amendments for marriage, limits on embryonic stem cell research, and informed consent and a woman’s right to know regarding abortion.

“We have chosen twenty-two bills to provide legislators and pro-family activists with the language needed to assist in the passage of future pro-family legislation,” Mackey stated.

According to FRC, the booklet gives a summary of the legislation, the actual text of the bills, and other important information such as background, explanations of the intent of the laws, and responses to common criticisms. Contact information is also provided so that those who are interested may seek further information from organizations or lawmakers who are involved with the legislation.

The online version of the publication is currently available at www.frc.org
