FamilyNet to Join Line-Up for Third-Largest U.S. Cable Provider

This Thursday, the faith-based cable channel FamilyNet Television joins the Cox Communications Digital line-up in Virginia’s Hampton Roads area

This Thursday, the faith-based cable channel FamilyNet Television joins the Cox Communications Digital line-up in Virginia’s Hampton Roads area as a part of the Faith and Values Tier. With more than 6.6 million customers, Cox Communications Inc. is the third-largest cable provider in the nation.

"We are thrilled that FamilyNet will now be available on Cox Communications in the Hampton Roads area,” said R. Chip Turner, vice president for marketing and distribution of FamilyNet. “Many community leaders have expressed their desire for local families to gain access to FamilyNet and its quality, values-based entertainment."

Eric Thomas, pastor of First Baptist Church of Norfolk said, “I am delighted that Cox Cable is offering the families in Hampton Roads this valuable resource.

“FamilyNet has the right programming that will inform, strengthen, and entertain us. My family is going to benefit, and I know that others in Hampton Roads will as well,” Thomas added.

"FamilyNet coming to Hampton Roads is very exciting for the citizens of this region,” said Barry DuVal, President and CEO of Kaufman & Canoles Consulting and former Secretary of Commerce and Trade for the state of Virginia. “The programming will provide an alternative of pro-family viewing that will strengthen our communities in the commonwealth of Virginia.”

Meanwhile, Frank Bowers, Vice President and Region Manager, Cox Hampton Roads, stated "At Cox Communications, we are always looking for ways to diversify our programming and offer something for everyone. That is why we are thrilled to announce the rollout of our latest digital channel, FamilyNet, offering programming based on family values that many of our subscribers have requested."

Owned and operated by the North American Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention, FamilyNet carries programs that appeal to all ages, including live interviews from its Fort Worth studios, news and current events with public policy experts like Janet Parshall and Jay Sekulow, music specials, classic movies and TV series, along with original children's shows, documentaries, and the best in Sunday worship from churches around the country.

On Thursday, FamilyNet will be seen on channel 260, which serves customers in the following communities: Norfolk, Portsmouth, Chesapeake, Virginia Beach, Newport News, Hampton, Williamsburg, Gloucester, West Point, King & Queen County, New Kent, James City, and York County.
