Fan-Made 'Harry Potter' Prequel Captivates Fans Before 'Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them'
A few months before the official prequel hits theaters later this year, a fan-made "Harry Potter" prequel has been uploaded on YouTube earlier this month. The fan-made short film explores what happened to Harry's parents, their friends, and Harry's professor Severus Snape after they graduated from Hogwarts.
The latest spin-off is titled "Severus Snape and the Marauders." The Marauders consists of James Potter, Harry's godfather Sirius Black, Remus Lupin, and Peter Pettigrew. The mini movie (video below) is set in 1978, just before the wizarding war. "Severus Snape and the Marauders" is written and directed by Justin Zagri, a Los Angeles video editor.
"I did a poll on our Facebook page with a few story options, and it was almost unanimous that the fans wanted a story about the Marauders," Zagri told Buzzfeed in an interview. "So, I read the books again, did some research, and came up with a story that I feel had something to say, while making sure we got to know both Snape and the Marauders when they were transitioning into adults, and how events of their past helped shape their future."
The video is roughly 25 minutes long and has been praised for its visual effects and script. Shooting time for the movie was only four days. However, post production took about a year to finish.
JK Rowling's "Harry Potter" series has a huge and dedicated fanbase that are ever hungry for more of the wizarding world. "Severus Snape and the Marauders" is the latest of fan-made literary pieces that now exist online.
The fan-Made "Harry Potter" prequel comes months before the official prequel "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them." The film is adapted from the book of the same name and is scheduled to hit theaters on Nov. 18, 2016. It's directed by David Yates and star Eddie Redmayne as Newt Scamander, Ezra Miller as Credence, and Colin Farrell as Percival Graves.
