Farrah Abraham Claims to Have Been Abused by Parents; Father Responds With Prayer to Be 'Father Farrah Needs'
Former "Teen Mom" star Farrah Abraham has made some drastic claims that she was raped and abused on more than one occasion. Abraham says that her public appearances led to unsafe situations and that she was beaten when she was a child.
"I was drugged and raped more than once. I allowed the [wrong] type of people into my life," Abraham told In Touch magazine. She explained that being in strip clubs and adult entertainment conventions had not helped the situation and instead led to her being in unsafe situations. "It was a very dark time," she added.
Of course, that has not stopped Abraham from making public appearances to promote parties or fulfill her contract with certain companies. Abraham's Twitter feed is generally abuzz with information about where she will be next, what party or event she will be hosting, and many have sexual overtones. After the release of her adult video, Abraham's popularity seemed to soar and she received numerous offers for public appearances.
Abraham also claimed to have been beaten with a belt when she was a child by both her mother and father, Debra Danielson and Michael Abraham. Fans of "Teen Mom" know that Abraham often had a volatile relationship with her mother and at one point police were called during a fight between the two, but these claims are quite intense, even for the reality star.
"They would beat me with a belt if I acted out," Abraham claimed. "I had cuts, bruises, welts, swelling and scars. It was a turning point," she said of daughter Sophia's birth. "I needed to stop the abuse. I still have a lot of issues, but I'm more aware now, and I'm determined to break the pattern."
Ironically, though, Abraham's father, Michael, currently lives in the guest home at her Austin, Texas residence, raising questions of how serious her allegations against her parents are and why she would allow her father to be so closely involved in her daughter's life, given her traumatic past.
"We are living in Austin, me and Sophia, and actually my dad lives in the guest house," she told The Ashley.
Abraham recently revealed that she, and the other "Teen Mom" stars, are all working on individual projects for MTV, even though Abraham swore she did not want anything more to do with the network that launched her career.
"You are basically going to see where me and Sophia are in our lives right now," Abraham told The Ashley. "It will show us in our journey and show women how to be empowered working moms. I'm really excited for people to see it."
Abraham's dad has taken to Facebook to defend himself from all of her accusations.
"All I can say is that I have always and do love my daughter Farrah. I'm not perfect and never said I was. I've done the best I could for Farrah and Sophia. I have … tried to be there for my girls and continue to work with Farrah to strengthen our relationship in a healthy manner. My prayer to improve myself, be the father Farrah needs, and be a positive person for Farrah and Sophia so Farrah does not have to be haunted from negatives in her past and have a happy and healthy future," he wrote.
