'Fast and Furious 8' Movie Update: Kristofer Hivju, Charlize Theron Join Movie Cast
"Fast and Furious 8" has included Norwegian actor Kristofer Hivju of HBO's "Game of Thrones" as one of its newest cast members, according to The Wrap.
Hivju, who is known as Tormund Giantsbane to the fans of "Game of Thrones," will play the role of a tough henchman in the eight film installment of "Fast and Furious." He has also appeared in the critically acclaimed foreign film "Force Majeure," the Will Smith starrer "After Earth," and Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Joel Egerton's "The Thing."
However, it is not only Hivju who will make a debut appearance on the "Fast and Furious" franchise. According to a report, actress Charlize Theron will also be part of the film as a villain. She is set to appear in next month's "Huntsman: Winter's War," along with Chris Hemsworth, who reprises his role as the huntsman in the 2012 movie "Snow White and the Hunstman."
Reports about Theron getting included in the movie first came out in February. The actress is also reported to be reuniting with her "Young Adult" writer and director, Jason Reitman and Diablo Cody, respectively, for a film feature about motherhood.
"Fast and Furious 8" is hitting the theaters on April 14, 2017 and will feature the ensemble of the original cast Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, and Jason Statham, who was introduced in "Fast and Furious 7" as the villain. The movie will kick off a new trilogy that will bring the franchise to a close.
"Fast and Furious 9" and "Fast and Furious 10" are slated for an April 19, 2019 and April 2, 2011 showing dates, respectively.
"Universal has been so good to me and so trusting of the vision… they have been like family… I promised the studio I would deliver one last Trilogy to end the saga," said Diesel on his Facebook page as he announced the showing dates of the three remaining "Fast and Furious" movies.
