'Fast and Furious 8' News: Charlize Theron to Play Villain as Helen Mirren Rumored to Emerge Again

Theaters are ready for the return of Dom Toretto's team, especially with the recent confirmation that Charlize Theron has officially joined the cast.

According to Variety, there are not too many details about the specific role that Theron will be playing but it is said that she will be playing a villain. There have been rumors since last year that the "Huntsman: Winter's War" actress has been tapped to join the eighth installment but since the script wasn't completed at that time, she wasn't able to commit to Vin Diesel's film.

With the script down and casting going on, Theron has finally said "yes" to the call and fans are looking forward to the twist and drama that her character will bring to the story.

Meanwhile, rumors have emerged once more regarding Helen Mirren's addition to the cast. She has iterated last year that she would love to be in the franchise and though no official word has been said from both Mirren and Diesel's side, fans have expressed their excitement in case she becomes the newest addition to the team.

Mirren recently told The Graham Norton Show that it would be a great experience to be with the car-racing geeks. "I would love to be in Fast & Furious. It would be incredible fun to do those movies - you don't act! That and cars is a dream come true," she said, according to Digital Spy.

As for the returning car racers, it has been confirmed that Dwayne Johnson, Jason Statham, Tyrese Gibson, and Michelle Rodriguez will be reprising their roles for the eighth movie. Diesel also revealed earlier this year that the crew will be heading to New York for shooting.

The upcoming film is part of the trilogy that will end with the 10th part. The release dates for the ninth and tenth films have also been revealed but unfortunately for many fans, it seems Paul Walker's Brian O'Conner won't be revived.

Walker's brothers stepped up to the plate to finish some of his scenes in "Fast 7" but there is talk that neither of the late actor's two brothers will be back to reincarnate Walker's role.

"Fast 8" is slated to hit big screens on April 14, 2017.
