'Fast and Furious 8' news: Michelle Rodriguez says they 'need a good reason to move on without Paul'

Paul Walker's passing has been hard to take not only for his costars, friends, and family but also for the millions of fans anticipating what could become of the eighth installment without the beloved actor.

In a recent interview with E! Online, Michelle Rodriguez spilled some important information about the "Fast and Furious 8," knowing that many fans are waiting for what it could offer now that Walker is not part of the team.

"We need a good reason to move on after Paul. And being that this is a global franchise now, it's not just the American baby — it's important that we consider moving on and take it seriously," she said.

She went on to explain that it was truly important for all of them to get on with their lives, just as Paul would have asked them to do if he could see them holding on to him. Rodriguez also said part of moving on meant finding the best director for the movie. She noted that the director they want is "somebody who's passionate about directing it."

Rodriguez also gave out some confirmations in a separate interview. As fans already know, Vin Diesel has hinted in some of his interviews that the upcoming movie would be set in New York City. Rodriguez said the city just offers so much potential for one fast-paced and action-packed movie like theirs. She even mentioned one particular spot in the town she referred to as a "melting pot," saying "There is so much to discover there. Motor cycle cruise, everything from the Hell's Angels home..."

Meanwhile, the rumor that Fast 8 will be the last ride continues to roam social media. Fans of the well-loved franchise are still pondering on James Wan's comments about the upcoming movie when he spoke with The Daily Beast several months back. Wan said Justin Lin's return for part 8 would be great, adding that "it would be amazing if he closed it out."

Wan's comments left marks on the hearts of fans, with some saying that he was implying the end of the ride for the franchise now that Walker is out.

Fast 8 is scheduled to hit the big screen on April 14, 2017.
