'Fate of the Furious': Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson Rift Is Normal, Says Co-Stars

The feud between Vin Diesel and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson has been one of the most-talked-about dramas outside of "The Fate of the Furious." The controversial rift made headlines last year when Johnson took to Instagram to express his appreciation for his female co-stars and called some of his male counterparts "candy asses." Fans were quick to allege that he was referring to Diesel.

At the world premiere of the next installment of the film franchise in New York on Saturday, the situation between Johnson and Diesel seemed "business as usual." They did not appear together during promotional events and never posed together on the red carpet.

According to one of their co-stars, Michelle Rodriguez, what happened between Johnson and Diesel was just a case of a family squabble.

"If you know a family that never fights, then I think... you just met a Stepford family, and that family is (expletive). It's not real," she said.

Actor Kurt Russell, who plays Mr. Nobody in the film, also said he did not notice any bad blood on the "Fate and the Furious" set. According to him, conflicts are not an unusual thing on movie sets.

"I didn't see that, and I was there a lot. I would tell you. If there was I would tell you... All movies are the same. Sometimes they are not an easy ride," he said.

Russell went on to say that the popularity of the franchise caused the public to pay much attention to the rift. Film director F. Gary Gray also said the situation was overblown in the media.

According to previous reports, the feud between two of the franchise's biggest stars was a long time coming, and it all started with Johnson getting mad at Diesel for repeatedly showing up late to their set.

"The Fate of the Furious" hits theaters on Friday, April 14.
