Barcelona Transfer Rumors 2015: Catalans Holding on to Pedro, But Does He Want to Go to Manchester United?
In a constant battle between Manchester United and Barcelona, the Spanish giants have yet to concede the fact that they will lose winger Pedro Rodriguez anytime soon.
Negotiations are still ongoing, with the Catalans insistent that they will not go for anything lower than €30 million to entertain a possible move for Pedro.
However, the 28-year-old wants to play regular football, and rumors circulated that he requested to leave the club before the season starts. But speaking to reporters, Pedro denied those claims.
"[Barcelona technical secretary] Robert Fernandez has made some very unfortunate statements. He shouldn't say that. He had his reasons. I don't want to leave Barcelona, but the situation is complicated. It's not about money, it's about playing more," he said.
Pedro went on to claim that he is still unsure of what will happen in the future, but Pedro doesn't have any ill feeling against Barcelona.
"I've spoken with my team-mates, and I'm not sure what will happen. I will always be a Barcelona fan," Rodriguez explained.
Other teammates have voiced their support for Pedro, with Lionel Messi sharing on the official Twitter page of the UEFA Champions League that "we want the best for him given what he's given the club."
With Pedro looking for regular playing time, United manager Louis Van Gaal has promised the Spaniard a starting role in the attack of the Red Devils – preparing to be paired with Wayne Rooney and Memphis Depay as Manchester try to make a charge in the Premier League title race.
However, one road block would be Barcelona's transfer window ban that will not be lifted until January 2016. With the Catalans involved in league games, cup matches and European matches, they are very hesitant to let one of their most consistent players go.
