FCA Opens Voting for 2005 Summer Camp Theme
Fellowship of Christian Athletes is now accepting votes to decide on the theme for its 2005 Summer Camps.
Ever since 1956, FCA Summer Camps have chosen a different Scripture-based theme every year. Only this year did FCA repeat a Scripture-based theme used in 1956, I am the Way, the Truth, the Life. No one knows my Father except through me, a verse from John 14, to commemorate its 50th Anniversary.
Voting for the 2005 FCA Summer Camp is open to anyone over 13.
FCA selected five themes from a pool of submitted suggestions. On the voting page, FCA has also included the Scripture the theme refers to and provides a short description of the Scriptures significance.
Below are the options for FCAs 2005 Summer Camp themes:
1. Theme: Eyes on the Prize
Scripture: Philippians 3:13-14 "Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus."
Description: Because when we focus on ourselves it becomes an individual goal, but to be a team player you have to see the big picture and that involves other's contributing their gift's for the completion of the overall goal. "And that is calling others upward in Christ Jesus".To be affective leader's we have to keep our eyes on the prize.
2. Theme: Get Focused
Scripture: 2 Corinthians 4:18 "So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal."
Description: So many things pull our focus away from Christ. Sports, girlfriends/boyfriends, parents, friends. It is important to keep every area of our life focused on Christ.
3. Theme: Heart of a Champion
Scripture: Colossians 3:1 "Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God."
Description: It takes heart (the love of the game and strong desire to win) to be a champion. Being a champion, or competitor, for Christ means having the heart of Christ. This passage tells us that the true way to be a champion is to set our hearts on Christ.
4. Theme: Refuse to Lose
Scripture: 2 Corinthians 4:8-9 "We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed."
Description: "Refuse To lose" covers all the things that we come up against as young Christians. There is nothing that can destroy us because we cannot be beaten. We have a friend - Jesus Christ.
5. Theme: No Limit
Scripture: Philippians 4:13 "I can do everything through him who gives me strength."
Description: The verse is very well known and has yet to be covered by a camp theme. It is also a simple, yet incredibly powerful verse that emphasizes that God will give you the strength to do whatever He has planned for you.
