'Fear the Walking Dead' Plot Details: Executive Producer Shares New Details About Spinoff
The trials of Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and his group will continue in the next season of AMC's hit post-apocalyptic TV series "The Walking Dead." However, the show's upcoming spinoff series titled "Fear The Walking Dead" is already on its way to fill in the void.
Avid followers of the zombie fiction are likely to be offered some glimpses from the past prior to the "TWD" incidents.
A source told The Hollywood Reporter said that initial scripts for the "companion/prequel" series will feature a key character from the first season of the parent show.
However, it remains to be seen whether the said character will take on one of the main roles or will it merely be guest starring.
Casting news further indicates that the series, which is reported to debut this summer, will see Cliff Curtis and Kim Dickens as Sean Cabrera and Nancy Tomkins, respectively.
Sean is a teacher who has a son with his ex-wife Andrea. The father is also said to share a working and romantic relationship with Nancy at a school in Los Angeles.
The show's executive producer Gale Anne Hurd talked about the setting.
"As a fourth-generation Angeleno, I certainly like to see it depicted how my friends, family, and colleagues would survive. Now we get an opportunity to see with a very different type of group than the type we encountered in Atlanta on The Walking Dead," the showrunner told Enstarz.
This is in line with what series director Greg Nicotero said.
"Having the show set in Los Angeles [and] at a completely different time as walkers are beginning to take over the world ... The idea, much like our show, it's really about the relationships and about the families and how they handle it and deal with it, so it's fascinating," he told IB Times.
