'Fear the Walking Dead' star Kim Dickens shares news on upcoming series
Kim Dickens from the new AMC series "Fear the Walking Dead" left fans excited for the upcoming weekend.
Fear the Walking Dead will take place in the same universe as its companion series "The Walking Dead." It follows the story of a family suffering through the start of an outbreak that led to the apocalypse. The series features Kim Dickens as Madison Clark and Cliff Curtis as Travis Manawa, whose characters come together to deal with the happenings.
Actress Dickens has worked in several series such as "Deadwood," "Friday Night Lights," "Sons of Anarchy," and "House of Cards." She also had a role in the recently released "Gone Girl." She shared details about her character in a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly. Dickens explained that her character is very relatable, as she is a hard-working single mother who is also tough.
Her character is a guidance counselor at a high school, which she explained was an interesting representation of her stance in the series. She explained that they began shooting their first scenes in a school, which helped her and fellow actors develop a basis for their characters before the apocalypse. Dickens also mentioned that the show will explore the idea of survival and how people will deal with it. It will resonate not only in the apocalyptic sense but also in the daily lives of a family. The themes explored in the show are dark, and Dickens added that she had nightmares for the first few days.
Nevertheless, Dickens expressed her excitement for the show, explaining that she is grateful that the fan base of The Walking Dead is willing to give them a chance. She said, "Well, the positives are that the fan base for The Walking Dead is a remarkable fan base. It is just impressive. I mean, their passion and their loyalty is just at a fever pitch and that's so amazing to see. So that's exciting to know that these people are going to give us a shot. And then the other side of that is, like, well, I hope we don't disappoint them."
Produced by AMC studios, executive producers Robert Kirkman, Gale Anne Hurd, Greg Nicotero, David Alpert, and David Erickson will lead the show. The series is expected to run for at least two seasons, which will premiere on Aug. 23.
