Fergie Says She Never Thought She'd Be Getting Divorced: 'I Wanted to Stay Married Forever'
Singer Fergie of the Black Eyes Peas says she never thought that one day she'd be getting a divorce from her now estranged husband, Josh Duhamel, before the couple announced their separation last month.
During an interview on "The Wendy Williams Show" Thursday, the 42-year-old was overcome with emotion, saying, "It wasn't my plan. I wanted to stay married forever."
Despite ending of their eight year marriage, Fergie spoke highly of her estranged husband whom she dated for five years before marrying.

"I love Josh. He's the father of my child," she told Williams while holding back tears. "We forever have that project together and and we're doing the best we can."
The Duhamels announced their split in People magazine last month.
"With absolute love and respect we decided to separate as a couple earlier this year," they said in a joint statement. "To give our family the best opportunity to adjust, we wanted to keep this a private matter before sharing it with the public. We are and will always be united in our support of each other and our family."
Fergie and her husband married in 2009 and the singer previously called their union nothing short of a blessing.
'I'm so blessed to have the husband I have," she was quoted saying in an AZ Central report.
These days, Fergie is spending time in church and leaning on the faith she once found after overcoming an addiction to crystal meth.
In a previous episode of the Oprah Winfrey show "Oprah's Next Chapter," the singer described a time when she went into a church and was paranoid that the FBI was after her. It was in that church that she prayed to God and ultimately stopped using drugs.
"So I had a conversation with God and I said, 'Alright, if I go out there and the FBI and the SWAT team's not out there, then it's the drugs and I'm stopping.' I went outside of the church and there was no SWAT team, there was no FBI, just me and God," she told Winfrey. "And I kept my promise. That day. That was it."
