Fifth installment of 'Indiana Jones' to be released in 2018?
The fifth installment of the popular and highly successful "Indiana Jones" franchise is rumored to be set for release in 2018, although there has been no announcement to that effect. But speculations are doing the rounds regarding actor Chris Pratt being offered the role of Harrison Ford in the fifth "Indiana Jones" film. Before that, it was rumored that Bradley Cooper might assay the role of Professor-cum-Explorer, Indiana Jones.
If rumors are to be believed, then Chris Pratt is a hot contender after the box office hits of "Guardians of the Galaxy" and "Jurassic World." When asked about it in a Nerdie Podcast, Chris Pratt said that the only call regarding the "Indiana Jones" film came from his brother. Pratt joked, "I actually got a call today from my brother and he said it'd be cool if I did it, so I have my brother's permission. That's the first of many steps, none of the other steps have happened. (laughs)"
George Lucas has stated earlier that he would love to mentor another Indiana Jones film. The rights of the film is with Disney and it had rejected Lucas' ideas for the modern "Star Wars" trilogy. This fact might come in the way of George Lucas having anything to do with a modern "Indiana Jones" film.
There are also no details whether the film would be a new, re-imagined reboot or would continue from the previous film, though that looks unlikely with a new bunch of actors.
Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy, who was the executive producer on all four Indiana Jones films, spoke to Vanity Fair and she talked about the possibilities of the film, saying that if ever an "Indiana Jones" film gets made, it "will one day be made inside this company. When it will happen, I'm not quite sure. We haven't started working on a script yet, but we are talking about it."
