'Final Fantasy 7 Remake' Release Date News: Square Enix Asks More Time From Fans, Reveals Game to Allow Control of Other Characters
Square Enix is hard at work on its highly anticipated game, "Final Fantasy 7 Remake," but fans will not see the game anytime soon.
In an interview with Famitsu (translation by Gematsu), game director Tetsuya Nomura said that while they do not have much to show yet, he assured gamers they are making ground. "We are strengthening our systems and steadily making progress, so please wait a little while longer," Nomura said.
The developer did show off screenshots of "Final Fantasy 7 Remake" at the Monaco Anime Game International Conferences (MAGIC) 2017, which Nomura elaborated on in the same interview.
One image showed Cloud using a cover action. In explaining this, Nomura said that one of the things they made sure to include in "Final Fantasy 7 Remake" is added realism.
To make the experience of sneaking around in the game more real, "Final Fantasy 7 Remake" will not allow players to simply march down the middle of the path.
"The original version had random encounters, and such parts were in the realm of imagination, but since this title is seamless and you see the path that you're infiltrating, I decided it was necessary for the sake of realism," Nomura explained.
"You can use it in ways such as to hide in cover until enemy soldiers move along, or to throw a hand grenade from cover to annihilate the enemy. Of course, those who find it bothersome can just throw themselves into the fight," he went on to say.
The game director also said that Barret will also have cover actions in "Final Fantasy 7 Remake." Nomura even teased "a special element in gunners" he refused to talk more of.
As for the Guard Scorpion battle shown in the "Final Fantasy 7 Remake" screenshot, Nomura said that this clash will not simply end on the scaffold like the original.
Taking advantage of the space, Square Enix came up with a battle making the most of the map's characteristics by allowing players to switch between Cloud and Barret when needed.
"The Guard Scorpion will change modes in the middle of the battle and demonstrate behavior not in the original version. Also in this screenshot, it should be noted that missiles and such are coming down. It's become a significantly flashy battle," Nomura explained.
"Final Fantasy 7 Remake" has no release date yet.
