'Final Fantasy VII' Remake News: Kitase Asks For 'Appreciation' from Fans
Ever since the remake of "Final Fantasy 7" was announced, fans all over the world have been expressing their gratitude to the developers and publishers for making their dream become a reality soon.
However, some fans were disappointed when the team announced that they will be opting for an episodic approach for the remake. It seems players couldn't get over the changes that will be applied in the upcoming game.
On the other hand, the remake's producer, Yoshinori Kitase, explained that fans shouldn't take the changes negatively, finally addressing the issue that the remake may be doomed before it is even launched.
According to PC Mag, Kitase gave details about why the team decided to come up with a multi-part series game in a blog post. He first explained that with the revamped version, the developing team was able to explore worlds beyond Midgar, giving them various options and ideas that all look toward expanding the original story in an effective way.
Some fans believe that what Sony referred to in a footage, which it released for the remake as a "unique experience" for gamers who loved the original, is actually a wrong move since the episodic aspect and the deviation from the original's turn-base fighting are not what the players have been used to.
On the other hand, Kitase explained that there was a lot of content in "Final Fantasy 7," which means they would have to remove some parts and come up with a "condensed" version that fans will most likely be more disappointed.
He added that going beyond the world that Cloud Strife trod and providing what seems to some as a useless expansion are the team's way of "delivering surprises." He then asked fans to be more open to changes, which while truly new to players, will still be familiar to the original story and gameplay.
"I hope that by explaining a little more about our design decisions that you can appreciate the size of this project and what we have planned for this remake," Kitase said.
"Final Fantasy 7" remake will come to PlayStation 4 first before announcements for other consoles are expected to be made.
