'Final Fantasy VII' port release date: Now available on iOS
Square Enix, the Japanese video game developer, publisher and distribution company best known for its role-playing video game franchises, has released the port of the classic, all-time favorite role-playing game "Final Fantasy VII" on iOS.
The port of "Final Fantasy VII" on iOS is high on strategy rather than action-oriented. This is because iOS devices have control limitations and the iOS version is based on the PC version rather than the PS1 original. In this way, the game need not be very responsive to multiple quick inputs hence this type of turn-based role-playing game suits the iOS devices for which it has been specifically made.
However popular, "Final Fantasy 7" is a game from another time. To modernize it, its developers tweaked quite a bit as suggested by the Twitter account of the RPG site. The iOS version of the game has features that enables the player to skip the random encounters on the world and event map. There is also a command which a player can use to give his/her character 'Max Stats'.
The menu hasn't been manipulated though to make it touchscreen-friendly. Gamers will have to use an on-screen gamepad overlay to navigate menus and move their characters around.
When it comes to the price, the "Final Fantasy VII" iOS version is more expensive than the console versions. "Final Fantasy VII" costs $15.99 on iOS as compared to $10 on PSN. The PSOne Classic version of the game costs $9.99 and it is compatible with the PS3, PlayStation Vita, and PlayStation TV.
All the other games in the "Final Fantasy" series - IV, V, VI, and "Tactics" - are also available on the iOS for $16. "Final Fantasty III costs $17. This makes them rather expensive when compared to their console counterparts which a player can get on PSN for the tune of $10.
"Final Fantasy VII" was released for iOS last August 19. Aside from the "Final Fantasy" series, Square Enix is also known for other video game franchises such as the "Dragon Quest" series and the "Kingdom Hearts" action RPG series,
