Final Fantasy XIV A Realm Reborn Update Goes Live; 2.25 Patch Raises PvP Level Cap, Introduces New Armor and Weapons
Final Fantasy 14: A Realm Reborn's 2.25 patch went live yesterday and added higher level caps and new content.
Square Enix made the announcement, and said the PvP (player-vs-players) level cap went up from 30 to 40. Polygon reported, within that raise are new weapons, armor, and gear. An additional feature unlocks the Transmutation system once the Marvelously Mutable Materia quest is beaten.
Final Fantasy 14 has reached over two million subscribers all over the world since its launch.
Polygon reported that the game had previously announced when they were at 1.5 million in October, but were unsure of how active those accounts were.
The newly released PS4 version of the game has helped the popularity of the game after server issues and problems began to take its toll on the game for the PS3 and PC.
Gamers can upgrade their PS3 version of FF14 to the PS4 for free until Dec. 31.
According to Polygon, this upgrade, while friendly to users, comes with a catch. Upon carrying over all data, items, and game features to the PS4, the PS3 version will no longer be accessible.
"Please be aware that after transferring to the PS4 you'll be unable to play the PS3 version using your existing copy," Square Enix community project manager Hergen Thaens said on the PlayStation Blog. "Users who wish to play using both the PS3 and PS4 are required to purchase the PS4 version separately. Users who own multiple service accounts for the PS3 can transfer all accounts to the PS4. Users transferring their accounts will have access during the early access period, scheduled from April 11th to the 13th. Please note: to transfer your PS3 account, you must have logged into it from a PS3 at least once."
