'Final Fantasy XV' News and Updates: Noctis' Gameplay Almost Revealed, Screenshots Look Very Detailed

Final Fantasy XV fans will get a taste of the franchise's new installment through PlayStation 4 and Xbox this September 30 after Square Enix released several screenshots of game character Noctis.

The shots look promising in terms of resolution and clarity, from the character itself to small details like weaponry, gear and even food items.

The pictures also described how supporting characters would look like in collaboration with Noctis. Specific link attacks were also shown when Noctis unsheathed his great sword, triggering Prompto to swap into slashing mode. This setup allows Noctis to shoot the enemies while the "pawn" slashes for extra damage.

Gamers are wondering if other support characters will also serve different purposes and extra capabilities, but fell short of details since only Prompto and Gladio were in the screenshots. Square Enix revealed that every support character is unique in terms of console controls and it is up to the player to choose based on specific needs. Gladio, for example, sports a shield and his expertise is hit-and-run tactics. He will slash the enemy and retreat, while Noctis is doing much of the muscle work.

Another plausible development is done on non-combat support characters, like Ignis, who simply need materials before cooking mouth-watering dishes that look real in the screen. Several "ambulant" vendors can also be encountered in the game map who provide bonus for the main character.

For accommodation, the player can stay at an inn or even at luxury hotels. Ironically, the inns in the game are more expensive because they usually provide higher bonus, contrary to real life.

Complete game during release

Meanwhile, the best news there is about "Final Fantasy XV" is the assurance that the game is complete once it is released, unlike the present trend to release the game unfinished and supplement it with updates later. Square Enix is meeting the gamers' expectations. After all, the game is ten years in the making.

Season Pass now available

Another good news for fans is that the season pass is already available for $25, according to the developer's announcement. The price includes access to six DLCs which include Booster Pack, Holiday Pack and the Expansion Pack; three other DLCs are character-themed episodes of Gladio, Ignis and Prompto.

Clearly, gamers can access and have a taste of Final Fantasy XV even before the scheduled release of the mainframe game in September. This allows a fair time for assessment on quality and gameplay prior release.
