'Final Fantasy XV' Not Coming to E3 2015, Episode Duscae Update Coming June 9

Bad news for fans of "Final Fantasy" -- those who are expecting that "Final Fantasy XV" will make an appearance during the coming E3 2015 will be disappointed. The game's developers are nowhere near releasing or unveiling the game anytime soon.

In the latest episode of Square-Enix's "Active Time Report," game director Hajime Tabata said that they will not be giving out any news about the game at the E3, nor will there be a new trailer that will be shown. The developer team is "more focused on making the game."

The team has been at it since 2006. A demo for the game was released on March 17, with "Final Fantasy Type - O" which was called "Episode Duscae." Since then, the game's development has been slow, owing to the many changes that the team decided to implement.

In the same interview, Tabata also revealed what fans and players can expect when a new update to the game demo will come out in June 9. First of these changes is the omission of a female character that was earlier included in the game when it was still called "Final Fantasy Versus: XIII." Tabata said that they have taken out Stella, who earlier played a major protagonist role in the game.

"We wanted to keep her as a heroine in Final Fantasy XV's story, and pursued ways to tie her in to FFXV's design as well," Tabata said. Given that they found it difficult to weave her story into the new game, they decided not to include her. They instead created a new character, called Luna. Tabata promised more information about Luna will be shared soon.

Cutting Stella out also meant cutting out a major scene in the game, which affects the game's setting.

Another change comes as an addition, as the city where the battle will take place will definitely change, based on the cut scene mentioned above. As for the other characters, he said that most of them are still around and any decision about cutting additional characters, if needed, will be "done with the aid of improving the game."

Come June 9, an updated "Episode Duscae" will be available. Changes to the game demo were reportedly based on fan feedback.
