Sequel to "Finding Nemo" is Third Largest Movie of the Year
Disney and Pixar's animated film "Finding Dory" has crushed box-office records for its opening weekend, making more than $140 million.
The sequel to the original "Finding Nemo" movie made a record-breaking $140.6 million gross during the weekend. It was noted that the film became such a big hit because it gave people a follow-up of Nemo's story shown 13 years ago.

"Finding Dory" proved to be a worthy competitor of other movie releases this weekend like the "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadow" and "Alice Through the Looking Glass." It continued the first movie, but this time, using Dory's point of view.
The story revolved on the forgetful Dory, who got separated from her mom and dad when she was still young. Buddies Marlin and Nemo helped their friend to locate where her parents are. They ended up finding them in an ocean species conservatory called the Marine Life Institute.
This storyline and the success of the first movie catapulted "Finding Dory" to its record-breaking earnings of $55 million when it opened on Friday. The Disney and Pixar film is also projected to surpass the record for the "best domestic animated" which was set in 2007 by "Shrek the Third." "Finding Dory" is expected to be the third largest movie of the year next to "Captain America: Civil War" and "Zootopia."
Months prior to its release, the animated film was forecasted to match the achievement of "Finding Nemo," which made $936.7 million around the world and also bagged the Academy Award for best animated feature.

The success of the 2016 movie can be partly attributed to the voices behind the characters like lead star Ellen DeGeneres as Dory, Hayden Rolence as Nemo, Albert Brooks, Ed O'Neill, Kaitlin Olson, Ty Burrell, Diane Keaton and Eugene Levy.
