Fire Kills 5 Children, 2 Adults in Rural Kentucky
A fire has killed 5 children and 2 adults in a rural Kentucky home on Saturday, according to a coroner.
Knox County Coroner Mike Blevins has reported that the adult victims were a woman and her boyfriend, and they were discovered in their ranch-style residence.
The woman was the mother of three children, all of whom died in the fire. The other two children who were tragically killed in the fire were from another family, the coroner confirmed.
Relatives of the victims were still being informed of the tragedy and so the names of those involved have not yet been released publicly.
Autopsies will now be carried out on the victims in Frankfort on Tuesday, Blevins confirmed, according to The Associated Press.
The cause of the fire has also not yet been confirmed and Kentucky State Police have said that arson investigators are looking into the incident. However, officials are not currently suspecting foul play to be involved.
Police officials have said that they received a 911 call at about 9.57 a.m. local time on Saturday reporting a fire in the area, according to AP. Fire crew were rushed out to the location and they were in attendance at the site until about 1 p.m.
