Pokémon Movie Stars Great Detective Pikachu; Movie Written by the 'Guardians of the Galaxy' and 'Gravity Falls' Writers to Celebrate 20th Anniversary
Pokémon has been popular since it started in 1990. Video games were created basing on the show and lately, the mobile game Pokémon Go has been phenomenal. This time, in the celebration of its 20th anniversary, there are reports that a new Pokémon movie will be on its way.
New Film for Pikachu
The film will be featuring Pikachu as a detective. Furthermore, the live-action film has been made possible by the partnership of The Pokémon Company and Legendary Entertainment. There are no details yet as to what the story will be, but production will begin by 2017.
The film's script will be written by two well-known script writers. Nicole Perlman, who wrote the script for the "Guardians of the Galaxy", and Alex Hirsch, who worked on "Gravity Falls", are in talks now to do the screenplay for the said film.
The lead character for the film, Detective Pikachu, is a newly launched character in Japan for "Detective Pikachu: Birth of a New Duo." The latest film, to be shot next year, will be produced in English version.
In 1996, Pokémon was first revealed through Game Boy games. There were two versions of the game, Pokémon: Red Version and Pokémon: Blue Version. The following year, after the games were released, the anime series hit the small screens.
Pokémon's Popularity
The anime already had five movies since 1998 to 2002 in Japan and from 1999 to 2003 in the U.S. There is a possibility that other characters in the anime version like Ash, Misty and Brock will not be appearing in the film since the material to be based upon is the "Great Detective Pikachu. "
The latest mobile game Pokémon Go has been really popular all over the world and most are enjoying it. The movie about the famous character will be timely for Pokémon fans that are into the game. This is something anticipated by everyone. To add to its popularity, Pokémon Sun and Moon will be released later this year.
The new Pokémon movie will be based on the "Great Detective Pikachu" character which is a version that speaks from the mystery-solving video game. Thus, the movie will feature a well-known actor and will have a lot of mysteries to solve as the movie unfolds.
