5 things to know about Craig Robertson, man killed in FBI raid over social media death threats
2. The FBI had previously visited Robertson in response to the threat against Bragg
The complaint details how FBI special agents visited Robertson at his residence on March 19, one day after he posted comments fantasizing about harming Bragg. When the agents expressed a desire to talk about the social media comment, Robertson responded by assuring them “I said it was a dream!”
“We’re done here! Don’t return without a warrant!” he reportedly commanded, according to the FBI.
Additional social media posts in the days following his visit from the FBI directly addressed his encounter with federal law enforcement. “The Demented Weasel, Merrick Garland, sent his jackboot Nazi FBI to screw with me about the post,” he said in a March 21 Facebook post that restated his previous comment about Bragg. “Yes, the WEAPONIZED FBI coming after a 75 year old conservative who had a dream about an a$$hole!!!!!”
An additional message directed at Garland that same day insisted that the attorney general needed “a 12 gauge enema.” Robertson directly addressed his “friends in the Federal Bureau of Idiots” in another post later that week: “I know you’re reading this and you have no idea how close your agents came to ‘violent eradication.’” Another post the following day copied and pasted the statement accompanying his “violent eradication” remark but replaced the term with the word “bang.”
“Hey FBI, you still monitoring my social media?” he asked in another Facebook post that did not have a date on it. “Checking so I can be sure to have a loaded gun handy in case you drop by again.”
The final Facebook post documented in the complaint that referred to the FBI’s visit to Robertson’s home declared, “If I really told you what I’d like to do to Joe Biden Facebook would censor me and the FBI would pay me another visit!!!”
