The Foursquare Church

Also known as the International Church of the Foursquare Gospel, The Foursquare Church was founded in the 1920s in Los Angeles, California, by faith leader Aimee Semple McPherson.

Not surprisingly, a denomination founded by a woman allows for women in pastoral leadership, with the denomination providing a resource page for “Women in Ministry.”

“From its inception, Foursquare has been a globally focused movement. As we have grown to include churches and ministries from every corner of the globe, we have also grown our leadership to include an array of different voices,” stated the Church elsewhere on its website.

“Those voices—from men and women, young and old, and a diversity of cultures—help Foursquare accurately represent the myriad character of a kingdom that spans every tongue and nation.”
