'Fixer Upper' Chip and Joanna Gaines Updates: Couple Explains Reason Why They End The Show After Season 5

Chip and Joanna Gaines talked about why they opted to end "Fixer Upper" despite its massive success.

In an interview with E! News' Daily Pop, the Gaines admitted that they were expecting to be subjected to rumors when they signed up to do the real estate-themed reality show. However, they admitted that they will never get used the rumor mill that comes with the fame.

The couple had been subjected to several negative speculations in the past, including a rumored separation as well as a non-existent skincare line that Joanna reportedly owned without her husband's knowledge. She was also speculated to be pregnant with their fifth child. But the Gaines told Entertainment Tonight that there is no truth to the rumors.

Joanna also mentioned that they are expecting people to believe that there has a negative reason why they opted to leave the show at its peak. But she believed that ending the show after season 5 is just the perfect time for them to say goodbye to the limelight.

The couple first announced that they are ending "Fixer Upper" after season 5 on Joanna's blog in late September, saying that they needed to take a break for a while for the sake of their relationship as well as their relationships with their kids. "Our plan is to take this time to shore up and strengthen the spots that are weak, rest the places that are tired and give lots of love and attention to both our family and our businesses," the reality show hosts jointly stated.

The Gaines also mentioned that they will still continue renovating homes in Waco, Texas despite the end of their show. "We aren't done designing things to make your home your favorite place on earth. We aren't done working towards restoration in all things or helping out those who could use a hand. In fact, in all of these things, we are just getting started," they also said.

HGTV will air the fifth and final season of "Fixer Upper" on Tuesday, Nov. 28.
