Flat Screen TV Recall Includes Thousands of TV's That Could Catch Fire
There is a recall underway for thousands of flat-screen televisions after it was discovered they contained a faulty part that could potentially catch fire.
The Consumer Product Safety Commission revealed that nearly 9,000 flat-screens were being recalled because of an electronic component that poses the risk of catching fire.
There have been six incidents where the TVs overheated, produced smoke or actually caught fire, according to the agency. One such occurrence involved the TV actually catching fire and damaging a wall, according to AP. So far there has been no injuries reported in connection with the recalled TV's

The flat-screen in question is the black Coby 32-inch flat screen with the model number TFTV3229 and serial numbers beginning with LG and that have M07 or M10 in the 9th, 10th and 11th position of the serial number. The model and serial numbers are printed on a label on the back of the televisions with the company's name, Coby, printed on the front.
The flat-screen were sold at several different retailers as well as online between August 2011 and last month, the agency revealed. The TVs were made in China by Coby Electronics Co. Ltd.
The company has since gone out of business and the agency is advising people who think they have one of the recalled models to contact the retailer where the television was purchased. The recall is being facilitated through eight retailers who sold the TV's to customers. The retailers are listed below.
