'FlatOut 4: Total Insanity' Release Date, Gameplay News: Reveal Trailer Announces March Arrival
"FlatOut 4: Total Insanity" is officially arriving in March, and fans of the arcade racing game are counting the days. A gameplay trailer has been released for the upcoming title, showcasing the best feature that made the game so popular in the first place: tons of destruction.
The fourth installment in the "FlatOut" series, "Total Insanity" will be inclusive of 27 cars, 20 tracks and a variety of modes, including Stunt Mode and Assault Mode. There is also both local and online multiplayer features.
The 27 cars are all customizable, with vehicles ranging from racing to muscle cars, and even an ice cream van. There will be new cars to choose from in the garage, but there will also be some tributes to fan favorites. Out of the 20 tracks, there will be traditional derby racing, Assault and Carnage levels, time trials and arenas.
The Stunt Mode will feature a combination of six new stunts and six revamped classic stunts. It will also have the highly popular visual of the driver being hurled through the windshield. The Arena Mode, on the other hand, will have three gameplay styles, namely Death Match, Capture the Flag, and Survivor. Finally, the new Assault Mode will incorporate the use of weapons in order to get a leg up over the player's competition.
The most exciting part about the upcoming game is its fully destructible environments. Since the game prides itself on car collisions and mayhem, being able to damage the world around the player really takes things up a notch.
However, there have been some criticism surrounding the game, notably because of the disappointing graphics and disregard for the cars' weight that make for an unrealistic experience.
"FlatOut 4: Total Insanity" will be released in March 2017 for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. A specific release date has yet to be announced, though.
