'Flip or Flop' Star Tarek El Moussa Shares Second Cancer Story, Talks Split From Ex-Wife

"Flip or Flop" star Tarek El Moussa recently revealed his struggle with testicular cancer, which is his second time dealing with a frightening illness after discovering he had thyroid cancer in 2013. Now, Tarek has also shared that health issues were a part of what caused him to split from his wife and co-star, Christina.

While speaking to PEOPLE, Tarek revealed why he kept his second cancer diagnosis a secret for so long. "Testicular cancer is more of a private thing," he said. Tarek eventually came out with his cancer battle, though, as he felt it would encourage other people to get themselves checked as well.

Tarek also appeared on "The Doctors" to share his story, including what went on behind the scenes of his seven-year marriage to Christina.

"If we had better communication, we would've had a better relationship." Tarek said (via Variety). "As time went on, and as you get busier and busier ... business, TV, then the cancer, the [second] cancer, and the back surgery, it just started pushing us apart from each other."

And while the split was definitely difficult at the start, the El Moussas knew that life had to go on and they had to resume working together. As previously reported, Tarek and Christina have been getting along very well despite the divorce—even appearing at events together. Ultimately, they are doing it for their two kids: Taylor, 6, and Brayden, 1. The couple share custody of their children.

Both Tarek and Christina have since been spotted with other people. Tarek dated his children's nanny, Alyssa Logan, for about a month, but has revealed to Us Weekly that he is currently single. As for Christina, she dated contractor Gary Anderson for a while before breaking it off with him to "focus on her children and herself."

Tarek shared that it was difficult for him to accept his ex-wife dating other people at first. However, both of them have already moved on.
