The Boston Bruins will try to win their third straight game as they host the Florida Panthers at the TD Garden in the NHL. The match is on March 31, 2015 and the puck drops at 7 p.m. ET.
With the playoffs coming soon, teams are starting to chase spots to try and reach the post season.
Boston has done a great job in winning their last two games as they make their push. A big win over the New York Rangers at home snapped a six-game losing streak. In that 4-2 victory, Milan Lucic scored twice in the first period and Carl Soderberg also got one in the net to build a big lead. Reilly Smith made it 4-0 in the second period before Rick Nash and Matt Hunwick scored consolation goals for the Rangers as they tried to make a comeback.
Next for the Bruins were the Carolina Hurricans and Ryan Spooner opened the scoring in the third minute. The Hurricanes equalized in the second period to bring things to overtime but it was David Pastrnak who became the hero with a slap shot in the 65th minute to give Boston the victory.
As it stands, Boston are in the Wild Card race and a win over Florida will give them more cushion in the tight race.
The Panthers are four points behind their rivals but have alternated wins and losses in their last five games. They lost in overtime to the Montreal Canadiens before beating the Ottawa Senators.
In the 4-2 win, the Panthers earned a 2-0 lead after Jaromir Jagr and Jussi Jokinen scored in the second period. Ottawa cut the lead early in the third but Jagr scored less than 10 minutes after to restore the lead. Dave Bolland scored in the final minute of the match to secure two points for Florida and keep them in the race.
