Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Robert Guerrero's Father Almost Come to Blows Before Big Fight

Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Robert Guerrero are gearing up to face off in the boxing ring on Saturday, but it was their fathers who almost came to blows during a pre-fight press conference Wednesday.

Ruben Guerrero, Robert's trainer and father, called out Mayweather for spending time in jail last year stemming from domestic violence charges brought on by the mother of his children. After boxer-turned-promoter Oscar De La Hoya invited Ruben to say a few words at the news conference that took place in MGM Grand's Hollywood Theatre, the elder Guerrero spoke out about both Mayweather and his father.

"We're going to beat up that woman beater, the one that beat up his wife, man. [He beat up] his wife in front of his kids. You guys like that [expletive]," the elder Guerrero questioned, according to Yahoo! Sports. "You like this guy, this woman beater? He must have learned it from his Dad."

Mayweather's trainer and father, Floyd Mayweather Sr., was watching from the audience and attempted to attack the elder Guerrero before being separated by his son's bodyguards along with boxer Bernard Hopkins.

"Man, believe me, I'm going to [expletive] that [expletive] up," Mayweather Sr. shouted.

Robert Guerrero, the 30-year-old Christian fighter gearing up to face Mayweather, reacted to his father's antagonistic barbs.

"I didn't know he was going to do that, but I knew he was going to get a little crazy. I didn't know what he was going to say or anything," Guerrero said according to Yahoo! Sports. "No, [I'm not angry at him]. He's his own man. I'm my own man. I'm not that type of guy to tell somebody, 'Hey, don't be doing that,' or this and that, especially when it's my father and he's a man."

Mayweather Jr. also seemed to shrug off the exchange that took place between Guerrero and his father.

"The fighters are the ones who fight, not the fathers," Mayweather said.

Even though the younger Guerrero did not call out his opponent in the same way his father did, he told The Christian Post that he believes he will bring Jesus Christ glory by being the first to beat Mayweather and become the WBC Interim Welterweight champion.

"Although he's considered the best fighter of our era, he's just another man walking the earth," Guerrero told CP. "When I defeat Floyd Mayweather on May 4, Jesus Christ will get all the glory."
