Floyd Mayweather Next Fight Update: Might Give Khan 'A Shot,' Says His Father is Wrong About Pacquiao Fight

It looks like the much-anticipated Mayweather-Pacquiao fight won't be happening anytime soon as Mayweather recently said that he would rather give Amir Khan a chance to fight him.

"I have always said that nobody has any right just to fight with me. I am nobody's pay day, I am nobody's meal ticket. I take fights that I believe will test me … I ain't ever taken a fight just because somebody has been running off their mouth," said the 37-year old boxer.

"If Khan gets his fight—it will be because I think he deserves a shot," he added.

Mayweather recently refuted his father's claim that the Mayweather-Pacquaio fight will happen soon.

Mayweather Sr. told Fight Hype, "That fight's definitely going to happen. It's a fight for the world, man, right there. It's the biggest fight that has ever been in life, so like I said man, that fight's gonna happen."

According to Fox Sports, the undefeated champion got on the phone two days after his father's remarks were made public, and said that he was mistaken. He also hinted that he might be thinking about getting a new trainer.

"Well my father is totally wrong," said Jr. "Like I said before, we have people constantly being removed from the Mayweather Promotions team, Team Mayweather, and we also have people being removed from The Money Team. I want my dad to be with my team, but if he continues to go out there and speak on things that he has no knowledge about without communicating with me, then I must get a new trainer."

Meanwhile, Khan was all for fighting Mayweather as he spoke with Sports World News and said that he, and not Pacquiao, would be the better fighter to challenge Mayweather in the ring.

"I'm younger, I'm faster, and I box better than Manny Pacquaio," said Khan. "I've got youth behind me and I've got a new trainer, which has made a massive difference in my training."
