Follow-Up to 'Love Dare' Hits Stores
The publishers of The Love Dare have released the follow-up to the New York Times bestseller and marriage saver, extending its 40-day challenge to a 365-day challenge.
"The Love Dare Day by Day picks up where the 40-day dare leaves off," explained John Thompson, vice president of marketing for B&H Publishing Group. "Many of our readers finished the 40 days and began again. Day by Day takes them through an entire year."
Originally a plot device in the faith-based independent film "Fireproof," The Love Dare has come to play a major role in the renewal and salvation of marriages far and wide since "Fireproof" creators Alex and Stephen Kendrick made it into a real book.
In "Fireproof," fireman Caleb Holt (played by Kirk Cameron) is asked by his father to take a 40-day marriage challenge before moving forward with divorce proceedings to end his seven-year marriage to wife Catherine (played by Erin Bethea). The "challenge" is presented in the form of a Scripture-based book, The Love Dare, which Holt agrees to read and which eventually transforms him and his view of love, marriage, and faith.
In response to the high demand from those who saw the film during the pre-screening stage, the Kendrick brothers decided later to write The Love Dare as a way to help readers learn each day about a unique aspect of the nature of love and to offer a "dare" to help implement that characteristic into their marriage.
Before The Love Dare's release on Sept. 26, 2008, over 300,000 copies of the pro-marriage book were already sold and a third round of printing was underway.
After its release, The Love Dare quickly hit the New York Times Best Sellers list, where it's been for 61 weeks. The Love Dare iPhone app, meanwhile, debuted as the No.1 iPhone app by AT&T.
"We're thrilled to see The Love Dare become so important in lives that people want to carry it with them," commented Thompson.
Currently, The Love Dare Day by Day: A Year of Devotions for Couples is available in hardback wherever books are sold.
The release date was Dec. 1.
