Ford Star Wars Rumors: Returning as Hans Solo?
Harrison Ford has been named in rumors relating to another "Star Wars" movie this week.
The 70-year-old actor is well known for his role as Hans Solo in George Lucas' iconic "Star Wars" films.
Reports on Friday indicated that the seasoned actor could be set to reprise his role in an upcoming film, according to Latino Review reporter El Mayimbe, who appeared on Fox News on Friday.
Referring to the role reprisal as a "done deal," Mayimbe said that Harrison would appear in the film "Star Wars Episode VII" by director J.J. Abrams.
As a result of the rumors, Twitter users and "Star Wars" fans alike were abuzz with excitement.
Twitter user Gabriella wrote, "I cant breathe, Harrison Ford reportedly confirmed to return as Hans Solo in Star Wars."
"Harrison Ford to return as Hans Solo AAAAAAH," wrote Elissa.
"Star Wars," started Empire magazine. "Ford. Could happen. Should it?"
Nerdist news posted, "Hanbelievable! Harrison Ford to return as Hans Solo in @StarWars."
Ford has been outspoken about his desire to portray Hans Solo again in past interviews, but the actor has specific ideas for the beloved character. Also, Ford reportedly expressed his willingness to return as Solo as long as the character dies during the feature.
"I thought he should have died in the last one, just to give it some buttom; some gravitas," said the actor, according to an interview from 2010 with ABC. "George [Lucas] didn't think there was any future in dead Han toys."
The role of Hans Solo catapulted Ford into stardom, and he later appeared in "Indiana Jones" as well as several other hit films.
Moreover, "Star Wars" has become one of the most successful movies of all time worldwide, and has legions of fans.
Lucas' "Star Wars" also starred Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill.
In J.J. Abrams' attempt to bridge the original "Star Wars" trilogy with a new series, it could be important that the director use some of the original cast members from the films.
