Former 'Full House' Actress Candace Cameron Bure: I Won't Do Sex Scenes
Actress Candace Cameron Bure, perhaps most widely known for her role as DJ Tanner on the family sitcom "Full House," said in a recent interview that she won't get nude or act out sex scenes in her work.
The Christian actress told YourTango.com that one way she and her husband – retired National Hockey League player Valeri Bure – have avoided the problems many celebrity relationships face is by limiting how physical she gets with her fellow actors.
"I have boundaries that my husband and I talked about and are both comfortable with," Bure told the publication. "I had my first kiss on television at 13-years-old so it's very easy for me to separate acting, doing my job and pretending to be romantic or flirting with someone and real life. But if you watch anything I do, you'll see I don't go beyond kissing someone.
"I'm not going to get naked, and I'm not going to have sex scenes. But at the same time, even a little peck on the lips [with a costar] is uncomfortable for my husband to watch, so he doesn't always watch. He's completely supportive of what I do, so if the worst thing is him not watching something I did, that's great. That's what works for us in our relationship."
The Bures have three children – Natasha, Lev and Maks – for whom she took a 10-year hiatus from acting to raise. Candace and Valeri Bure have been married for 17 years, and she says the Bible has provided the foundation for their relationship.
"The best [marriage] advice I've ever been given is being handed a Bible. That's the blueprint for marriage that we go by, and that's what our marriage is grounded in," Bure told YourTango.com. There are also older married couples, such as her parents and grandparents, she said, who have modeled to her and her husband the importance of long-term love and commitment.
Bure is promoting her upcoming book, Balancing It All: My Story of Juggling Priorities and Purpose. The book's description on Amazon.com says the actress, producer, New York Times bestselling author, wife and mother wrote the book in response to a question she gets asked frequently: "How do you do it all?"
Monday night the actress could be seen hosting UP Network's Christmas special, "K-Love Music City Christmas." Bure told The Christian Post that during the taping of the program she was "geeking out" about meeting the Christian artists, and they were excited to meet her as well.
"I don't view myself as a celebrity," Bure, who has been acting since age five, told CP. "There's always that disconnect for me. I'm just a person, and I'm an actress. I get it, but I'm a mom, a wife, a friend, and I'm really not a big deal. But then when I get around those artists who I admire and look up to and I start fan geeking out over them, it puts it in perspective and then I realize, that's what other people feel towards to me, and I get it."
