'Fortnite' Developer Epic Games Suing Aimbot Cheaters

Epic Games, the developer of "Fortnite," has shown to the gaming community that it takes cheating very seriously.

According to Polygon, Epic Games is suing two people who have been caught cheating in "Fortnite." These two individuals, named Brandon Broom and Charles Vraspir, used a subscription-based software to cheat and are now being sued personally.

Epic Games previously made it clear that they do not tolerate cheaters. In a post made on their website, the developer revealed that they are already taking action against cheaters and the software they use.

"To start, addressing cheaters in 'Fortnite' is the highest priority across Epic Games," the post reads. "We are constantly working against both the cheaters themselves and the cheat providers. And it's ongoing, we're exploring every measure to ensure these cheaters are removed and stay removed from Fortnite Battle Royale and the Epic ecosystem."

In the same post, the developer revealed that they have already banned thousands of players who have been caught cheating in the game. Epic Games assured that they would continue to ban cheaters.

If found guilty, Broom and Vraspir could each be facing a penalty of up to $150,000 for each instance of copyright infringement. This is not the first time a developer or publisher has filed lawsuits because of their games. Blizzard Entertainment previously won a lawsuit that they filed against a German creator of bots.

"When cheaters use aimbots or other cheat technologies to gain an unfair advantage, they ruin games for people who are playing fairly," Epic Games said in a statement to Polygon. "We take cheating seriously, and we'll pursue all available options to make sure our games are fun, fair, and competitive for players."

While the idea of cheating in the game to get ahead is undoubtedly enticing, players will think twice from now on.
