'Forza Motorsport 7' VIP Membership News: Microsoft Backtracks On Controversial Change After Fan Outrage

Microsoft has backed up on its recent changes to the "Forza Motorsport 7" VIP membership system. This is following a firestorm of fan outrage of the VIP bonuses which did not work as they had expected.

In an open letter to the community, Turn 10 studio head Alan Hartman apologized for the upset. To make it up to fans, Hartman assured them that a feature is being worked on that will provide double credits for all VIP members. Additionally, they will also be providing an immediate 1 million credit apology to members.

For those unaware of events that resulted in the developer's apology, everything began when early adopters of the "Forza Motorsport 7" VIP membership system were dismayed to find out that Studio 10 had overhauled the system. Even worse, they have not communicated about the recent changes making it even more of a shock to gamers.

In past iterations of the "Forza" series, VIP membership was a high-value commodity. In addition to providing exclusive cars and access to VIP-only online events, it also gave double credits to members allowing for them to progress much faster in the game.

It was changed to the latter feature of the VIP membership that irked fans. Instead of being a permanent bonus, the double credit became an expendable resource limiting the bonus to a meager 25 races.

This change was not disclosed to the community who were understandably shocked and upset at the revelation. Not only were they angry at the lack of information, they were also furious at the thought of paying a higher price for what they saw as reduced content.

Turn 10 told fans to keep their eyes peeled for a new update that will address the issue. And given the massive outcry from fans, it probably won't take long for it to be rolled out.

"Forza Motorsport 7" is currently available for the Xbox One and Microsoft Windows.
