'Fraggle Rock' News: Digitally Remastered Version of the Hit Children's Series to Grace the TV Screens on HBO
The '80s hit children show series will make a comeback late this year.
The '80s kids will have something to be happy about as Jim Henson's digitally remastered "Fraggle Rock" is set to make a comeback to HBO.
First aired in 1983, "Fraggle Rock" is a children's series about cave-dwelling puppets who love to sing and dance along with one another. With its famous slogan, "Dance your cares away; worries for another day. Let the music play; down at FRAGGLE ROCK!", the show ran for five years with more than 90 episodes altogether before ending on 1987.
In a series of interconnected caves called "Fraggle", a bevy of creatures co-existed and lived harmoniously together. The TV series was Henson's greatest realization for a world where friendship, love, and harmonious co-existence are the most important things in life.
"Fraggle Rock" is not just about children entertainment where furry characters break out into a lively song and dance number to have fun. Created as an allegory of human society, the show explores the underlying characteristic of human association where characters realize that every action has a consequence. Wrought with lessons everywhere, "Fraggle Rock" explores prejudice, spirituality, personal identity, and other social conflicts.
Said to be the number one children show of all time, "Fraggle Rock" was unmatched when it comes to teaching kids about how society works as a whole and the role played by everybody, even until now. Each episode is a wealth of learning and education.
The multi-awarded children show was a multinational effort through Jim Henson's company that drew a huge flock of viewers for HBO when it was first aired.
Although there won't be new episodes for the all-puppet show of brightly colored and lively creatures, airing of a newly remastered "Fraggle Rock" will still make fans happy. In a press released by HBO, "Fraggle Rock" is going to be in HDs later this year for kids to enjoy.
Last March 2015, Gordon Levitt announced that he will produce and star in the big screen adaptation of "Fraggle Rock". However, there is no definite date yet for the screening. "The first screen personas I ever loved were Henson creations, first on 'Sesame Street,' and then on 'Fraggle Rock. Jim Henson's characters make you laugh and sing, but they're also layered, surprising, and wise." Gordon Levitt said. The live-action has been worked on for the last decade, a fitting tribute to the great work of Henson. Levitt is also collaborating with Jim's daughter, Lisa Henson, for the project.
