Franklin Graham Calls Nation to Prayer on Eve of Election Day, Father Billy Graham's 98th Birthday
Evangelist and Samaritan's Purse President Franklin Graham is once again calling for prayer for the upcoming election, this time on the eve of Election Day, which coincides with his father's 98th birthday.
Writing on his Facebook page on Tuesday, Graham cited several passages of scripture that underscore the power of prayer.
"The Bible tells us that 'The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much' (James 5:16). Jesus also tells us to 'keep asking' and gives us an example in a parable in Luke chapter 18 of a widow who repeatedly went to a judge asking for justice, and finally the judge responded because of her persistence. Our pleas and our petitions do make a difference," Graham said.
Over the past year, Graham and his team have traversed the entire country, blanketing the nation in prayer as part of his Decision American tour, sponsored by the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association.
"I have gone to all 50 states this year, and tens of thousands of people have joined me in their capitals to pray for the future of this nation. It is imperative that we continue to pray. As we approach Nov. 8 — and beyond — we need to 'cry out to God day and night' (Luke 18:7)," he continued.
On Nov. 7, the night before election day, Franklin Graham will be holding a prayer for the nation on Facebook LIVE at 9 p.m. EST. That same day, Billy Graham will also be celebrating his 98th birthday.
"Let's bow together and again ask for God's help. We need Him. Will you be there?" Graham asked, encouraging people to join him in prayer for the nation.
