'Friday the 13th' Reboot News and Release Date: Breck Eisner of The Last Witch Hunter is to Direct the Film; What We Know So Far

"Friday the 13th" horror movie will have an upcoming franchise that will give a deeper thought on why Jason Voorhees keeps coming back. It has been 35 years now since the original franchise was seen on the big screen; this time, viewers will see more Jason and with a new approach.

In a recent report, Brad Fuller, one of the partners in Platinum Dunes Production Company, stated that the movie will talk about Jason's resurrection after every time he's killed. He added that things will be reinvented and there will be a new approach to Jason's character.

Other reports note that the new approach in the franchise will include Jason meeting up with his family. Co-producer Andrew Form reported that the film will involve Pamela, Elias and Jason being together, and this will explain how Jason's character came to be.

Elias has been introduced in the previous "Friday the 13th" films, but has never been seen on screen. He happens to be Jason's father. On the other hand, there is a comic book spinoff called "Friday the 13th: Pamela's Tale", published in 2007 by DC Comics. In this comic book, Pamela Voorhees, Jason's mother, killed Elias because he was abusive to her for several years.

The reboot of the film has been delayed because of Director David Bruckner stepping back. Also, Aaron Guzikowski has climbed on board to be the new writer of the film.

Despite the events that delayed the production, the film found its new director. Director Breck Eisner will take over the work to get the film done. Eisner is not new to horror movies; in fact, he already directed The Crazies and The Last Witch Hunter.

What to Expect

Friday the 13th Reboot will basically be a story about Jason Voorhees' life before he became the slashing villain. It will also tell about the past of Jason and Pamela Voorhees, making it more interesting since it gives a new update from the original story.

The thought of going back to Jason's past and getting to know him better through his family is an interesting idea for viewers and fans. However, it has to show the character's original murderous self.

"Friday the 13th" is set to kick off on January 13, 2017 and now that everything is in place for the production, it may come on time for the scheduled release date.
